A poll

What do you keep the thermostat set at when you're home in the late fall and winter?

What's normal?

We sleep at 63 and set at 68. When Josh was really little, we slept at 68 and set at 73, but he's big enough now to have blankets, so back to 63.

We're warm people. 64 during the day, 60 at night, and 68 when we have guests. Otherwise my Mom whines.

My newest thermostat is programmable, which I love.

I warm up to 65 in the morning for my special lady, then let the temperature drop during the day to 61 (since we're both away from home), pick it up in the evening to 68 (used to be 65) and drop at night to 61 after 11pm.

Now if I could just get one that's smart enough to automatically adjust to those crazy unexpected cold or hot days in Chicago... thermostat, that is, not girlfriend. She manages to adjust just fine.

Right now it's at "off" and I don't know when it's going to go to "on". The temperature is about 61 in my room when I wake up. I can't go much lower.

The temperature is around 62 in my house now. I try and keep it around there throughout the winter, though I use a spaceheater when I'm working at the computer so my fingers don't go numb.

Using a programmable thermostat is the way to go if you can. Why heat the space when you aren't there?

I do the same as anonymous #2

I even put my space heater on a timer and set it to turn on 30 minutes before I get home.
